地震襲擊英文怎麼說？ 快速看懂海外災難新聞内容

損害 damage/ destruction
雖然這次地震造成嚴重損害，慶幸的是並未造成嚴重傷亡。如果發生民眾傷亡，通常新聞會用以下的字詞來表達：death toll (n)、fatality (n)死亡人數，casualty (n)傷亡人數。
Despite the severe damage of buildings and roads, fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. （儘管建築物和道路嚴重受損，所幸目前並無傳出死亡。）
損害除了damage之外，也可用destruction (n)和ruin (v，n)來表示「破壞，損壞」。
The tornado that touched down in our town last night left a path of destruction, collapsing houses, flipping cars and causing a massive power outage. （昨晚龍捲風觸地造成一系列的損害，房屋倒塌、汽車翻覆和大停電。）
※collapse (v, n) 做「傾倒，倒塌」解釋，可當作動詞和名詞。
An old man collapsed on the street and was rushed to a hospital.（一個老人倒在街上被緊急送到醫院。）
※flip (v, n) 為「翻覆，翻轉」的意思。
We flipped a coin to decide whether to stay home or go to the movies（我們丟硬幣來決定待在家裡還是出去看電影。）
※power outage 指的是「大停電」。
The snowstorm knocked down power lines, and caused a massive power outage. （暴風雪壓倒電線並造成大停電。）
庇護所 shelter
地震發生後，政府單位一定會建立庇護所來安置災民，庇護所英文是shelter (n)，常用於animal shelter（動物收容所），homeless shelter（遊民收容所）等。
The government set up emergency shelters for people whose homes were damaged during the quake.（政府為地震住家受損災民設立緊急庇護所。）
