出門旅遊穿太少？ 學會7個英文單字看懂天氣預報

Gusty winds will ease inland, whilst remaining windy along the coast.（內陸的陣陣強風將會減緩，不過沿海地區還是維持風大的情況。）
Gusty其實也正是來自於gust這個名詞的形容詞，一陣陣強風就可以用gust來形容。例句：A sudden gust of wind blew the door shut.（突然一陣強風將門一吹關上了。）這裡則是採用字尾加上「-y」變成形容詞的用法，gusty winds就是陣陣強風的意思。
後面有個動詞大家應該覺得面熟，ease其實就是跟大家熟知的easy同樣家族的單字，後者大家知道是形容詞，前者則是動詞，「使～變簡單」所以有減緩的意思。例句：The medicine will ease your pain.（這個藥將會減緩你的痛苦。）這邊的變化變成去「-y」加「-e」，不過廣義來說也是符合前面提到的變化模式。
最後要說一個非常重要的動詞就是remain，也就是保持、保留的意思。從上面的天氣預報來看，動詞後面加上形容詞的remaining windy，這種動詞廣義來說屬於linking verbs 連綴動詞，用法主要是連結主詞和後面的受詞，通常是形容詞或名詞，因此後面的受詞其實是用來修飾主詞的補語，所以不能使用一般副詞修飾動詞的用法。
例句 1：He remained a good student in college.（他大學時期維持好學生的樣子。）
例句 2：Please remain seated while we change the batteries of the projector.（麻煩大家在我們更換投影機的電池時，維持坐在原位上。）
